In the previous article, we mentioned China’s four visa-free policies. Today, let’s focus on the transit visa-free policy.

1. Transit visa-free

Transiting from China to a third country (region), holding a passport, visa-free at 60 open ports specified in China, and the stay time does not exceed 240 hours

Entry reason: tourism, business, visit, visit relatives (except work and study)

Hold a connecting ticket to a third country or region in advance

2. Covered countries (latest date: 54)

Asia: South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, UAE, Qatar (6)

Europe: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal , Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, Norway (40)

3. Scope of activities and duration of stay

Scope of activities: 60 open ports in 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China

Duration of stay: 240 hours, starting from 0:00 the next day after entry, and staying continuously until 24:00 on the 10th natural day.

4. Notes

Book connecting tickets. Book connecting tickets to a third country or region in advance, apply to the port border inspection authority, and enter the country after the border inspection authority handles the transit procedures in accordance with the law.

Passport validity period. The passport is valid for more than three months

Choose a good entry port. Choose any of the 60 ports to which the transit visa exemption policy applies. The 240-hour transit visa exemption policy is not applicable to other ports for the time being.

Register for accommodation at the hotel or police station within 24 hours after entry.

Pay attention to the scope of activities. Tourists can enter and exit the country from any of the 60 transit ports. However, different provinces have different activity areas.

For example: Guangdong Province can move around the entire province.

Jiangxi Province can only move around in Nanchang and Jingdezhen
